Simple Release For Upper Ribs Helps With Deeper Breathing

Simple Release For Upper Ribs Helps With Deeper Breathing

Today's episode reveals how to get a full deep breath by releasing your upper ribs and scalene muscles.

Better oxygenation means less pain and more energy.  So watch the short video for a self test to see if you are "over breathing" or creating the phenomenon called "respiratory alkalosis" which causes your oxygen to stay in your blood instead of being delivered to the tissues for energy!

The simple technique shown will also help you release your scalene muscles and upper ribs to start eliminating the trigger points that can cause

- hand and wrist pain that can mimic carpal tunnel syndrome

- elbow pain that can mimic tennis elbow or golfer's elbow

- shoulder pain that can mimic rotator cuff tendonitis, arthritis, and bursitis

- chest pain that can mimic heart problems

- upper back pain and more!

As always…leave me a comment and tell me how this feels or what it does for you.  You can leave questions for me as well! (I often use questions as fodder for upcoming episodes)

Awesome Combo Exercise For Your Low Back, Hips, and Knees

April 6th, 2012 15 comments

If I had a favorite combination exercise for the low back, hips, and knees…this is IT!

The #1 benefit is likely it's ability to take the load off of your low back and give you more confidence that you back will support you.

For the hips…it will help you get more mobility AND stability along with good functional movement that floods your nervous system with good input that has an overall dampening effect on pain.

One of the best functional combo exercises ever!

One of the best functional combo exercises ever!

Lastly…the benefit as a knee exercise may be more profound if your knees hurt going up and down stairs.  (If it hurts your knees to do this exercise, then please do not perform it…you need more remedial work and possibly some guidance through the online training course and coaching at www.corewellnessinstitiute.com.

If you have pain, especially low back pain, do a "pre-exercise audit" by doing a movement that stirs up your pain and rate it 0 to 10 (10 being worst).  Then perform the movement slowly on each side 5 to 10 times….then do a "post exercise audit" and rate your pain level.

I'm interested in your results!
Post them in the comments so I can respond.

Also…if you have specific difficulty or pain with the movement tell me what that is so I can address it here on the free blog or with the online course and coaching.

Acute Injury Protocol For Warp Speed Healing After Traumatic Injury

March 27th, 2012 5 comments
No it's not me but it's how I fell.

No it's not me but it's how I fell.

VIDEO BELOW

2 weeks ago today I took a pretty serious spill on my mountain bike that put me in a sling for 4 days with an acromioclavicular (shoulder) injury.

So I am VERY grateful for the knowledge I have about how to speed the healing and repair process immensely and I wanted to share it with you.

The video I recorded for you (below) outlines the 3 key elements plus some other nutritional products I'm currently using to re-build  QUALITY tissue.

Below are the Metagenics products I use on myself and on my patients with acute injuries for "warp speed healing":  (All you need to provide is your name and email address to set up a free account.)

1.  Proteolytic Enzymes (Protrypsin) -  that you take on an empty stomach that speeds the healing process immensely, especially important in the inflammatory stage (first 72 hours).  It "drains the inflammation bucket".  You'll be amazed at how fast bruises and swelling subside.

  • Provides premium-grade chymotrypsin and trypsin—enzymes that support tissue health.*
  • Every batch of raw material is carefully manufactured in a moisture and pH-controlled environment and is independently assayed to ensure maximum enzyme potency.

2. "Herbal Aspirin" (Inflavonoid Intensive Care) – These powerful herbal anti-inflammatory herbs and bioflavonoids at to "turn down the faucet" on the amount of inflammation that gets created and "dumped into the bucket".

  • Features an extract of boswellia, as well as turmeric and ginger—all premium quality and standardized to key compounds to ensure effectiveness, reproducibility, and consistent results.
  • Provides cayenne, an herb that has long been prized for its many health benefits such as the relief of minor pain, which complements the activity of the other herbs.*
  • Offers added antioxidant support from quercetin.*
  • Provides excellent muscle tissue support and relief of minor pain following intense exercise or "weekend warrior" activities.*

3.  "Tissue Repair and Remodeling Nutrients" (Collagenics Intensive Care) – the bottom line is…you can heal good or bad, fast or slow.  These nutrients form the building blocks for quality tissue.

  • Supplies glucosamine sulfate, a precursor for proteoglycan synthesis, in combination with vitamin C, proanthocyanidins from grape seed, and vitamin E—nutrients that provide antioxidant protection.*
  • Provides specific minerals that act as precursors for the production of intracellular superoxide dismutase (SOD), an important antioxidant enzyme in the body.*

(*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.)

This injury also really got me thinking about what would happen if I couldn't perform manual work anymore.

It was just the kick in the seat of the pants I needed to get more serious about the Reverse CPS Now! Training Course and Core Wellness Coaching.

More to come on that.

Save the link to this blog post in case you or someone you know needs some warp speed healing!

Dr. Steve

P.S.  Be sure to bookmark this acute injury protocol at the link below.  It can save you years of distress because it drastically reduces scar tissue as your body goes into the repair and tissue remodeling phase.

The Biggest Posture Correction Mistake I See (and the correction that works immediately!)

The Push Away Posture Technique

The Push Away Posture Technique

If it wears your back out when you try to sit up with good posture, you're likely making the same mistake that I observe in 99% of my students, clients, and patients.

When you hear "SIT UP STRAIGHT!"…what do YOU do?

You probably throw your shoulders back, lift you chest, and raise your chin a little, right?  It's like the military "chest up" scenario.

Well, there's a better way.  And in today's short and sweet episode of Core Wellness TV, I very simply demonstrate the correct way that can help you sit all day long in good posture and never wear out!

The reason I KNOW this is the most effective way is because it mimics the grand design and the perfect unfoldment of human verticalization.

This is also a very abbreviated explanation.  We go much deeper in the Organic Posture Course.

After you watch the video, let me know if this makes sense to you and leave any other comments or questions you have!

A lot of people want to help and just don't know the best way so I got together with my friend and fellow music lover, Al Gaudet, who owns Big Al's Charity Thrift Store in Clarksville and put together a benefit event with music from yours truly and local folk rock artist Tonya Buckler.

We'll have a smoothie bar plus other food and drink in addition to the live music.  Tonya will start shortly after 5pm and I will be playing around 6:15.

We are taking monetary donations and Al is giving 50% of all sales during the event to the relief fund as well.

Grounding For Mental Clarity, Anti-Inflammatory Nutrition, How Many People Have Crossed Posture Syndrome?

Lessons From Spring Peepers

Lessons From Spring Peepers

Since I had 3 of my websites go down this past weekend (they tell me I was "hacked" but I'll never know for sure), I got all "spun up" into a sugar burning, carb craving, poor sleep quality state of health.

So to balance my body, mind, and spirit, I headed to the park for a trail run/walk.  The clarity was immediate so I decided to share what was on my mind.

Today is a "3 Pillars of Core Wellness" Episode:

Mindset - How to use nature to reduce stress and create mental clarity plus words of wisdom from Joseph Campbell about risk and  following your bliss.

Nutrition - Learn which foods trigger inflammation and how to get it under control so you don't end up living with pain, fatigue, and degenerative disease

Movement - Learn the reason why a full 1/3 of people have a higher chance of developing strain and pain from Crossed Posture Syndrome.

BONUS:  Big lesson from the spring peepers!  Why stress keeps you from fully expressing yourself and your true potential and what to do about it.

Natural Treatment For Heart Disease and Stroke – Hidden Risk Factors Beyond Cholesterol

February 23rd, 2012 2 comments

Since the Core Wellness Institute philosophy is based on the "3 Pillars" of Mindset, Movement, and Nutrition and goes much wider than just exercises and posture therapy, I wanted to address a MAJOR stress in a lot of people's lives…HEART ATTACKS AND STROKES.

I shared some critical information this past week at our monthly Louisville Area Raw Food Meetup on natural treatments to prevent and even reverse cardiovascular disease and captured a really good recording of it for you.

Play

In this 38 minute talk that you can download and take on the road with you, you'll learn:

  • Why cholesterol is NOT the "ugly animal" like we've been programmed to believe by mass media and drug companies.
  • Why there's really no such thing as "good cholesterol" and "bad cholesterol"!
  • The REAL root of heart disease and strategies to prevent and even reverse hardening of the arteries.
  • Plus several well researched but surprising tests (that your doctor will likely never order for you) that can reveal hidden risk factors that raise your risk of heart attack and stroke dramatically
  • The "wildfire vs. controlled burn" analogy that you MUST understand to avoid a tragic early death or debilitating cardiovascular event.

There is SO much more to this story and I'm considering going more in-depth with a seminar or course on the subject.  The misinformation and mass brainwashing from the corporate medicine machine is costing millions of lives and billions of dollars spent on unnecessary drugs and procedures!

So I have 2 questions for you:

1.  What are your biggest questions and concerns about avoiding and reversing cardiovascular disease?

2.  What would YOU like to see covered in a natural cardiovascular treatment educational program?

The Best Shoulder Pain Exercise EVER! How To Fix Your “Sick Scapula”

February 15th, 2012 8 comments

The Most Important Shoulder Exercise Ever

The Most Important Shoulder Exercise Ever

This extremely simple shoulder exercise is the MOST IMPORTANT exercise to do to both treat and prevent rotator cuff tendonitis and tears, impingement syndrome, bursitis, arthritis, and even frozen shoulder!

Although I didn't mention it in the video, doing this important shoulder blade exercise also helps relieve tight and tense shoulder and neck muscles.    The bottom line…the better your shoulder works, the less strain you have on your neck!

One important caveat:  in order to create good "ball and socket" shoulder movement, you first need to have good motion in your mid to upper back.  After watching the video below, be sure to check out  THIS VIDEO where I show you a way to get mobility back in that area of your spine as well.  Then you'll be on your way to less pain and better movement.  I believe those 2 things will make your entire life more FUN!  Try it and I'll think you'll agree!

How To Stoop And Reach Without Hurting Yourself

February 8th, 2012 No comments

QUESTIONS?  COMMENTS?  LEAVE THEM BELOW!

Let's face it…you've got to bend over to do stuff.

So you might as well learn how to do it in a way that doesn't chew up your joints, muscles, and tendons in the process.

Today's episode of Core Wellness TV goes step by step process to "injury proof" your stooping process.

I think about it every time I plug-in and unplug my laptop into the power strip under my desk.

I actually had a janitor ask me to do this one because he does this exact process hundreds of times a day when he reaches under cubicles to change trash can liners.

If you work with little children (teachers, daycare, etc.) this is HUGE for you as well.
how to bend and reach correctly

how to bend and reach correctly

But, like I said, we ALL do it more than we could possibly realize.  So you might as well learn how to protect your body in the process!

Join me and my geese friends at the gazebo on an amazingly energetic sunshiny day and get your stoop on!

P.S.  I also clued my Facebookers in yesterday on a special "how to lift properly" podcast and video I did as a guest expert on the Construction Business Mastery Alliance Podcast.

And although I'm mentioning it here now, you could be missing out on other timely tips and resources if you haven't "liked" us yet at www.facebook.com/corewellnessinstitute !

Natural Solutions For ADHD And Inspiration From Mom

January 31st, 2012 No comments

Today I got an email from a private client asking me if I had any information about natural ADHD solutions she could share with a friend that was considering putting her child on medication.

So I clipped this piece of nutrition and lifestyle coaching from a Q&A session I did as part of a coaching program last year.

(I've decided to include these detailed Q&A archives as one of the bonuses when I get the finishing touches on our upcoming Pain Relief And Posture Training Course.)

But for today you'll learn some key nutrients and therapeutic lifestyle change solutions for brain health, and especially for ADHD.

I cover a lot of controversial ground on this one so be sure to leave your comments and let me know what you think.

www.gettoyourcore.com/adhd-q-and-a

Keep thinking good thoughts, eating good food, and please KEEP MOVING…like a child.

Dr. Steve

P.S.  Today marks a year to the day that my Mom passed.  So in the spirit of my biggest cheerleader and supporter, I want to tell you that you can do ANYTHING when you focus on immersing yourself in a healing environment each moment.

Then your next moment becomes better, then the next moment even better than that!

And THIS MOMENT is all there is.

Remember…Your past does not define you.  It is only a memory in your mind.  It can be released in this moment.  Then your body, without the thoughts of guilt, worry, shame, anger, and fear can express your innate state of health and vitality.

There is no past to feel guilty about and and no future to worry about…we only have THIS MOMENT.  And we can choose peace.

So focus on something that makes you happy and fulfilled.  Make amends.  And see only the innocence and beauty in everyone you meet.

Thanks Mom.  You still continue to be my teacher.

I love you.
